We are happy to announce the Camunda Desktop Modeler 5.8 release.
This release updates the form editor with a searchable palette. Find what you need quicker from our growing list of supported form elements. It also incorporates major updates into the BPMN editor: Round connection corners and other BPMN element rendering improvements make it easier to look at and understand larger BPMN diagrams. The newly integrated create/append anything tools speed up the modeling of executable BPMN processes. As usual, the new Modeler extends support for Camunda Platform 8, this time adding the ability to model BPMN escalation events.

A new, scalable form element palette
This release updates the form palette to a scalable component that better supports our growing list of supported form elements. The new palette groups elements by categories and allows you to filter for them using search:
Reworked BPMN rendering
This release includes a general BPMN rendering overhaul. Round connection corners make it easier to follow what happens in a BPMN diagram. Many elements are updated to improve their visual presence or make them more distinguishable, i.e., from a bird’s-eye view.
Create/Append any BPMN element
New create/append anything tools in the BPMN editor give you access to all BPMN elements, everywhere. Use the tool to quickly build your executable BPMN processes — no upgrade required.
Support for upcoming Camunda Platform 8.2 features
We’ve expanded the support for using FEEL expressions in Camunda 8 BPMN diagrams. In the latest Camunda 8.2 alpha release, you can now implement BPMN escalation events:
