About Angle Finance

Angle Finance is an Australian commercial asset finance company serving businesses and the brokers who represent them. The genesis of two acquisitions, it is now one of the leading non-bank asset finance companies in Australia in a highly competitive market, and has averaged 40 percent year-on-year growth since inception. In 2026 it was voted the number one non-bank asset finance lender in a broker poll run by industry magazine The Advisor. Angle built and scaled its automation capability with Innovo, a Camunda regional system integrator partner, as its managed service provider.

THE SHIFT

Angle Finance inherited a fragmented technology landscape and needed to automate complex commercial lending processes at speed, without sacrificing the control and auditability that mission-critical financial operations demand.

Before

  • A patchwork of duplicated, aging systems inherited through acquisition, with critical process knowledge held in employees' experience and intuition.
  • Bespoke asset finance processes with few off-the-shelf packages, and no fast way to prove what would deliver value.
  • Priority finance requests that could take days to decide, forcing the business to stop taking applications before year-end.
  • Manual, largely invisible work scattered across the business, with limited insight into how processes ran.

After

  • One orchestration layer coordinating lending from end to end across old and new systems as a single, governed flow.
  • Rapid prototyping in near-production conditions, with parallel runs that prove designs against real data before they go live.
  • Priority credit decisions in two hours, and settlements offered right up to the end of the financial year.
  • More than 220 processes running live, with real-time visibility and a complete audit trail for every decision.

WHY IT MATTERED

Angle competes in a crowded Australian market against more than 50 other lenders. For a fast-growing new entrant to market, speed and consistency are critical to winning deals and earning broker loyalty, especially at the end of the financial year when demand spikes and turnaround times decide who gets the business.

As a non-bank lender, Angle works under strict assurance, risk, and compliance requirements. Every automated decision has to be controlled, explainable, and auditable, and Australian regulators expect exactly that for AI in production. Any approach had to meet those obligations from the outset, not bolt them on later.

That was hard given what Angle inherited. Growth by acquisition left duplicated systems, aging technology, and modern cloud tools side-by-side, with much of its most valuable process knowledge living in people's heads. Getting clean data out of those systems took real engineering work. Rather than replacing systems, the insight was to orchestrate across them, keeping solid but inflexible financial systems-of-record intact while adding speed and personalization at the layer closest to the customer.

WHAT THEY DID

Angle set the usual options aside. A full custom build, or a large integration across several heavyweight packages, would have been slow and costly, and neither would deliver the value it was after. It needed a foundation it could build on fast, going deep on the processes unique to commercial asset finance while bringing its fragmented landscape together.

Camunda fit on three counts: it could sit across the existing landscape and coordinate it rather than replace it; its open standards-based approach kept process logic portable and human-readable, which mattered for a company planning to resource teams across the globe; and it offered value for money and speed to benefit.

Rather than automate isolated tasks, Angle used Camunda to orchestrate its core systems into end-to-end processes. Its core lending platforms and its financial systems-of-record stayed in place while Camunda wrapped and extended them, coordinating the full journey and adding speed and flexibility closest to the customer. Predictable, high-volume steps run straight through, while people and, increasingly, AI agents handle the judgment-heavy work. The team built up in layers: solid data foundations first, then process and decision automation, then more sophisticated orchestration, and now agents working inside governed processes. It prototypes quickly in near-production conditions and runs candidate processes in parallel against real data, promoting only what proves its value.

Angle partnered with Innovo, a Camunda regional system integrator partner, to accelerate the establishment and build-out of its automation program. An embedded, multidisciplinary Innovo team worked inside Angle's agile delivery model spanning the full lifecycle: discovering and redesigning processes with the business, architecting and prioritizing the backlog by business value, designing and engineering the orchestration on Camunda, and providing technical governance, testing, release management, and ongoing production support.

Camunda has given us a new benchmark for technology ROI: projects that may once have taken months and cost millions can now be done in a fraction of the time and cost, in many cases to a higher standard of quality, reliability, and auditability.

WHAT CHANGED

Orchestration changed how quickly and confidently Angle can lend. Deep automation now underpins the business and the results show up where they matter most: decision speed and consistency, the ability to keep saying yes when competitors have stopped, and control over how work runs.

  • Two-hour priority decisions. Credit decisions on complex, high-value deals that once took days now return to priority customers within two hours.
  • Faster payout quotes. Early payout quote requests that once took up to 20 minutes now come back in seconds.
  • Better outcomes for brokers and borrowers. Customers get decisions and funding when they need them most, including same-day settlement right up to the end of the financial year, when many lenders have already stopped taking applications.
  • Among the fastest in the market. On decision speed and consistency, Angle now ranks in the top three of more than 50 Australian lenders.
  • Automation at scale. More than 220 processes, including subprocesses, run live across the business, many exceeding original benefit estimates.
  • Control and visibility built in. Every process runs with real-time monitoring and a complete audit trail, so decisions stay controlled and explainable.

Working with Innovo as its delivery partner, Angle also drove a step-change in how automation gets built and run:

  • Over 80% less manual effort. Across the processes Angle and Innovo automated, manual effort fell by more than 80 percent.
  • Over 60% more delivery capacity. Standardized engineering methods and reusable patterns lifted delivery capacity by more than 60 percent.
  • Predictable delivery. A two-week sprint cadence gave the business a faster, more reliable path from idea to production, with governance and testing built in.
Angle's achievement shows that using a managed service provider can accelerate the delivery of strategic business outcomes: identifying the right opportunities, redesigning the processes behind them, and building the governance, data and orchestration needed to take them safely into production. Innovo worked with Angle across that entire lifecycle, with Camunda as the orchestration foundation, to create a dependable enterprise capability that has reduced manual effort by more than 80 percent and increased delivery capacity by over 60 percent. That capability now gives Angle a clear, controlled path from automation to agentic workflows.

WHAT'S NEXT

Most of Angle's orchestration so far has run beneath the surface, streamlining work borrowers and brokers never see. The team keeps proving and promoting new processes through the same disciplined, value-first approach that got it here.

The next phase turns outward. Angle is moving into self-service, letting brokers and borrowers interact directly with its processes and the agents behind them. It is also putting AI agents to work on the hardest part of lending, the judgment calls that fixed rules cannot make. The team is already testing whether it can reach the same quality of credit decision using less information from the customer, which would cut friction and speed approvals further, and early experiments have agents coordinating other agents in controlled test environments. With solid data foundations, consistent integrations, and a governed way to run and monitor everything, Angle can keep handing agents more responsibility where they earn it, without giving up the control its regulators and customers expect.
