Hacktoberfest 2022

Happy Hacktoberfest everyone!

We are so excited to be participating in Hacktoberfest for the third time this year. At Camunda, we believe that open source can help unlock the full potential of process automation. We’re passionate about automating processes, creating easy-to-use products, and collaborating with our community members.

This year we’re going to do things a little differently and are taking a more eco-friendly approach to prizes. For every Camunda challenge completion, we will make a donation to One Tree Planted which plants trees across the globe focusing on areas in need of habitat rehabilitation.

If you complete the challenge you will also have the option of choosing to receive the limited edition Camunda x Hacktoberfest 2022 t-shirt.

How to Participate

To complete the Camunda Challenge, here’s what you need to do:

  1. Submit four (4) quality pull requests (PRs) to any Camunda repo including bpmn.io and participating* Camunda Community Hub repos.
    * Not all community maintainers are participating in Hacktoberfest. Check for the hacktoberfest label to find participating repos.
  2. Once all four of your PRs have received the hacktoberfest-accepted label, fill out the form below with links to your PRs.
  3. Your submission will be reviewed and if approved, you will receive a follow up email asking for more information.

Our Advice

  • Your PR does not have to be code-heavy. Documentation improvements are always welcome.
  • Read the project’s contributor guide/CONTRIBUTING.MD page before getting started to understand how to write a PR that will pass any automated testing in the project, which will make it more likely to be accepted.
  • If you do not respond to a request for changes within 7 days, your PR will be closed.
  • If you make the requested changes after your PR has been closed, feel free to submit another PR.
  • Have a plan for what you would like to accomplish when submitting a PR to a project in the Camunda Community Hub.
  • Strive to adhere to our Community Code of Conduct.
  • Review the Hacktoberfest Resources page for more information regarding Hacktoberfest.

How to Contribute

Whether you are a seasoned open source professional, an enthusiastic community contributor, or dipping your toes in for the very first time, there is an opportunity to participate in Hacktoberfest.

Here are some ideas:

We have issues in our repositories tagged with good first issue. We think these are achievable, we know they are useful, and our maintainers can work with you on them.

Is there something new that you’d like to contribute? Open an issue and discuss it with the maintainers. Make use of the pull request template available in the Community Hub.

Is there an open feature request that you would like to see implemented, or an open bug that is impacting you? This is your chance to make the world a better place for yourself and others.

To learn more about the GitHub workflow and what happens after you submit your pull request (PR), check out this page.

Did you hit a bug? As well as opening an issue for it, you could contribute to the fix. Again, our maintainers are here to help you pinpoint the issue and discuss approaches to fixing it.
