Camunda Named a Leader in Adaptive Process Orchestration Software Evaluation, Q3 2026
Camunda believes recognition validates its agentic orchestration vision as enterprises scale AI initiatives
San Francisco, September 25, 2026 – Camunda, has been named a Leader in The Forrester Wave™: Adaptive Process Orchestration Software, Q3 2026. According to the report “Camunda is best suited for large enterprises requiring scalable, reliable, and observable process orchestration that includes agentic AI at scale.”
This wave evaluation focuses on assessing participating vendors’ capabilities in providing the appropriate architecture and functionalities to apply AI to the orchestration of complex processes and build users’ trust in it.
Camunda received Forrester's highest possible rating in the Vision criterion, which, for Camunda, reflects its strategic focus on open orchestration architecture and agentic orchestration. The company received a 5/5 score in the Adoption criterion, underpinned by its Customer Success organization, Camunda Academy's training of tens of thousands of users each year, and an active community.
Camunda also received the highest possible scores in the following criteria:
- Process complexity handling: Support for complex, multi-step agentic workflows
- Process volume handling: Proven ability to execute millions of process instances daily
- Adaptivity architecture: Ability to swap LLMs, model hosts, or backing systems without rewriting process logic
- Reliability architecture: Zeebe's distributed, stateless architecture ensures processes fail safely, recover cleanly, and run through updates with zero downtime
- Operate, observability, control, and governance: Capture of every process execution, agent decision, and exception for full auditability and compliance
- Optimize observability, control, and governance: Deterministic control at the macro level with adaptive reasoning at the micro level on a single, battle-tested engine
According to Forrester's evaluation, Camunda is best suited for large enterprises requiring scalable, reliable, and observable process orchestration that includes agentic AI at scale. Forrester also notes Camunda’s compelling vision, based on the thinking that every running process was designed in a world without AI, calling for “the great process reengineering” for the AI era, as well as our positioning as the enabler of this era with what we call the Open Orchestration Architecture.
"Every process running in the enterprise today is legacy because it was designed for a world without AI,” said Bastian Koerber, Senior Vice President, Product, at Camunda. "Enterprises are deploying AI agents faster than ever, but there's a widening gap between what those agents can do and what the business actually gets from them. Adaptive process orchestration closes that gap by coordinating agents, people, and systems across the full end-to-end process while maintaining observability, governance, and auditability. Our position as a leader reflects, in our opinion, what we've always believed: orchestration is what turns AI agents into enterprise-grade outcomes."
