We’re happy to announce the 1.8.0 release of Cawemo Enterprise On-Premises.
Cawemo is the specification platform of the Camunda stack, enabling all stakeholders to model and collaborate on BPMN and DMN diagrams and related files.
The main improvements in this release are:
- Folders
- Public API
- Simplified Set-Up
As a Camunda Enterprise customer, you can install or upgrade to version 1.8.0 following our On-Premises Installation instructions. If you’re not yet a Camunda customer, you can sign up here for a free 30-day trial of the Camunda Enterprise Platform, which includes Cawemo.
On Cawemo.com, folders are already available to all users; the public API is accessible if you are on the Enterprise plan.
Folders
We’re excited to share that you are now able to store your BPMN and DMN diagrams into folders and subfolders inside a project. This allows you to better organize your files, especially in large projects and makes it easier to find the diagrams you’re looking for.

Additionally, we’ve improved the user experience when copying or moving files or folders to a different location.

Please note that user permissions can only be defined on the project level and will be inherited by all folders within the same project.
Public API
With this release, we’re introducing a public REST API for Cawemo. This will allow you, for example, to synchronize files between Cawemo and external applications in an automated way. The first API endpoints that we’ve added can be used to manage catalog projects and templates. Please read more about the available endpoints as well as authentication and error handling in the new REST API reference.

Simplified Set-Up
It’s now much easier to get Cawemo up and running when you’re setting up your own instance. We provide a ZIP archive that contains all the necessary configuration files as well as a new startup script that lets you run Cawemo with a single command (in the first iteration, the script is available for Unix-based operating systems only). What’s included, too, is a ready-to-use demo configuration that also comprises a database and a (dummy) SMTP server. This option is not intended for production usage, but is useful if you’d like to try out Cawemo on your local computer. Please refer to the updated installation guide in order to download Cawemo and to learn more about the simplified set-up.
