Camunda Closes $100 Million Series B Funding Round to Automate Any Process, Anywhere

I am excited to share that we just completed a €82 million (approximately $100 million) funding round led by Insight Partners. The round also included our existing investor Highland Europe from the Series A. You can find the official press release here. In this blog post I want to comment on this funding round in my own words and briefly walk you through the story of Camunda. But first things first: Who is Camunda and what do we do? Who is Camunda and what do we do? Camunda provides process automation software that is used by our customers, such as Allianz, ING, Vodafone, or Atlassian, to automate processes they need tailor-made for their business. In essence, Camunda provides software to build software. For example…

Camunda Promises a Partner-friendly Business Strategy

The Process Automation market opportunity is huge. With market estimates in excess of $10 billion for software alone, 97% of enterprise IT decision makers agree that Process Automation is vital to their digital transformation initiative. According to The State of Process Automation report, Process Automation is cited as the key driver of innovation and is the most important factor to achieve business outcomes.  Partners have long been integral to our success, which is why we recently unveiled our new Camunda Connect Partner Program that provides expanded support for organizations that develop and implement Camunda, sell Camunda, or include Camunda among their solution offerings. As part of our new program, we recently held the first-ever conference exclusively for partners: Camunda Connect…

Camunda at NASA: Perseverance prepares to land on Mars

A mammoth seven-month, 470-million-km (292,044-million-miles) journey is about to come to an end — in just a few short hours the Perseverance rover is scheduled to touch down on Mars.  But the hardest part of the journey is still to come. The descent down to the Red Planet, dubbed “seven minutes of terror” by NASA engineers, will see Perseverance slow its descent from a blistering 20,000km/h (12,427m/ph) down to a ‘slow walk’, before gently landing in Jezero Crater. A NASA illustration showing the Perseverance heat shield separation, which will occur during descent today — Courtesy NASA/JPL-Caltech NASA Mission Control expects to receive confirmation that it has hit the top of the Martian atmosphere at around 21:48 CET / 15:48 EST…

Helping NGOs and Non-Profits around the world reach even more individuals Mission-driven organizations are often short-staffed, insufficiently funded, and underestimated. Test Your Processes With JUnit 5

If you’re a fan of JUnit5 for testing on the JVM, we have good news — there’s a brand-new library available: camunda-bpm-junit5, published as a community extension for Camunda BPM. The project is now available on Maven central, so you can start testing your processes with the latest technology. Getting started To add the extension to your project, just add the Maven dependency to your pom file: <dependency> <groupId>org.camunda.bpm.extension</groupId> <artifactId>camunda-bpm-junit5</artifactId> <version>1.0.0</version> <scope>test</scope> </dependency> Add the dependencies to JUnit 5 if you don’t already have them (they are included in the spring-boot-starter-test artifact): <dependency> <groupId>org.junit.jupiter</groupId> <artifactId>junit-jupiter</artifactId> <version>5.6.2</version> <scope>test</scope> </dependency> To start testing you can extend your test class with the ProcessEngineExtension: This injects the ProcessEngine configured in the camunda.cfg.xml file into…

Publishing “Practical Process Automation”

A Book about Orchestration and Integration in Microservices and Cloud-Native Architectures In today’s IT architectures, microservices and serverless functions play an increasingly important role. But how can you create meaningful, comprehensive, and connected business solutions if the individual components are decoupled and independent by design? How does this all affect business processes and process automation? I’ve been thinking about this question for a long time now, and I discussed it with many customers in real-life scenarios. This resulted in many blog posts, conference talks and articles. This again led to countless discussions, that showed one thing clearly: We need guidance. Today I am thrilled to announce that I’ve condensed my experience (and of course the whole Camunda team’s to some extent) in…

Camunda Review 2017

Here is a summary of how the Camunda company did in 2017. I hope you’ll enjoy reading it as much as I did writing it. Financials For our revenue growth 2013-2016, we’ve already been awarded by Deloitte as one of the 50 fastest growing tech companies in Germany, and one of the 500 fastest in EMEA. This year, we accelerated even more and grew the Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) by 89%. We are still fully profitable and self-funded, despite the fact that we grew our staff to a total of 70 employees and opened two offices in the US. Customers We signed up many new customers, among them impressive names such as PricewaterhouseCoopers. Generally speaking, we’re seeing more and more…
