We’re happy to announce the 1.4 release of Cawemo Enterprise On-Premises.

Cawemo is the BPMN process specification platform of the Camunda stack. It enables all stakeholders to model and collaborate on files related to business process diagrams.

The main improvements in this release are:

  • Catalog and Templates
    • You can now create and manage Templates which you can sync down to your Camunda Modeler and re-use, for example to connect your processes via Service Tasks with RPA Bots.
  • Camunda Modeler Plugin Cloud Connect 2.0
    • Use the latest version of the Plugin to keep track of Templates you created in Cawemo and use them directly in the Camunda Modeler.

As a Camunda Enterprise customer, you can install or upgrade to version 1.4 following our On-Premise Installation instructions. On cawemo.com, these and more improvements are already available if you are on the enterprise plan.

What are templates for?

With a template you can predefine certain execution properties of a BPMN element, so that users who apply a template in the Modeler to, for example, a Service Task, will get a simplified view of the Properties Panel. In this simplified view they can add values for selected properties, and some hidden properties are automatically applied.

Please note that the templates can be specified and maintained in Cawemo but only applied using the Camunda Modeler. More details about which options the templates offer can be found in our documentation about templates.

Using the catalog

In the current version of Cawemo, a catalog project can only be edited by the user who created it. All templates within catalog projects are visible to all members of the same organization. This also applied to all users who fetched templates into the Camunda Modeler using the Cloud Connect plugin. More detailed access rights settings will be offered in the next version of Cawemo.

Code Editor

The Template page contains a Code Editor that assists you in writing the JSON text that describes a template. It has syntax highlighting, validation, keyboard shortcuts, and more.

Templates are saved automatically with every content change. In case the text is not a valid JSON object, the template will not be saved.

Import / Export

You can override a template’s content by dragging and dropping a JSON file from your local file system onto the Code Editor. You will be asked to confirm the upload, since the changes are permanent and not revertible.

The template can be exported as a JSON file by clicking on the export icon in the upper right corner.

Already available in Cawemo Enterprise (SaaS)

Already available on cawemo.com is easy-to-use, form-based editing for templates connecting to the RPA Bridge and UiPath for RPA Task Automation. This way, you only have to fill in a few parameters, like the UiPath package name or the IN and OUT arguments of a UiPath process. In the background, we ensure that a valid template JSON is produced and offered to the Modeler user. For full flexibility we also offer a Code editor, to write your own custom JSON templates.
