Introducing Camunda Cloud – Industry-First Process Automation as a Service

At Camunda, we have always pushed ourselves to innovate in the field of Process Automation. From our early days as a lightweight Java project, we’ve relentlessly innovated — engineering an end-to-end Process Automation tech stack that has helped organizations across the globe automate mission-critical processes. But innovation never stops and organizations continue to look for new ways to increase the velocity of business transformation. To address this need, more and more organizations are turning to the cloud, which is increasingly becoming a business transformation accelerator.  That being said, as enterprise applications are being built entirely in the cloud, organizations are struggling with automating processes across multiple systems, people, and devices in an end-to-end manner. These processes often include modern components…

The Journey from Camunda BPM to Camunda Platform

You might have noticed something a little different about our recent release announcement: Camunda BPM is now Camunda Platform. We’ve renamed our process automation solution to better reflect our mission to help organizations automate any process, anywhere. And, to be perfectly honest, we are also keeping up with what we’re hearing in the field — many of our users and customers already informally refer to “Camunda Platform” or even just “the platform” or simply “Camunda” when talking about the product. During CamundaCon 2020.2, our CEO, Jakob Freund, explained that processes are the algorithms that determine how an organization runs. They define how we work within our own team or across teams, and they influence the way we deal with our…

Camunda Closes $100 Million Series B Funding Round to Automate Any Process, Anywhere

I am excited to share that we just completed a €82 million (approximately $100 million) funding round led by Insight Partners. The round also included our existing investor Highland Europe from the Series A. You can find the official press release here. In this blog post I want to comment on this funding round in my own words and briefly walk you through the story of Camunda. But first things first: Who is Camunda and what do we do? Who is Camunda and what do we do? Camunda provides process automation software that is used by our customers, such as Allianz, ING, Vodafone, or Atlassian, to automate processes they need tailor-made for their business. In essence, Camunda provides software to build software. For example…

Communication Between Loosely Coupled Microservices

In our recent webinar titled “Communication Between Loosely Coupled Microservices” we got a lot of great questions and because of the limited time some were left unanswered. As community questions are really important to me I want to follow my tradition to answer remaining questions in a blog post (as I have for example also done roughly a year ago in “Webinar FAQ for Monitoring & Orchestrating Your Microservices Landscape using Workflow Automation”). What Was The Webinar About? You can find the slides (here) and recording (here) online. The webinar covered different styles of communication. This was explained by looking at how ordering food works: The communication style is very different from styles of collaboration of services, which was also discussed: The following table gives an…

The Zeebe Community Welcomes Camunda Cloud!

The Rise of Camunda Cloud Whether you’re a current Camunda Platform user, interested in our open source software, or simply poking around our blog as a result of a tweet you saw from someone in our community, you may have noticed an increase in the number of times you’re seeing words like Camunda Cloud, SaaS, or Zeebe pop up over the past few months. As you may know, we first released Zeebe, the source-available, community-supported workflow engine, in 2017 (read the history of Zeebe in our CEO’s words). Since then, in addition to creating an amazing enterprise product with Camunda Platform, we’ve been listening to your feedback on Zeebe as well as Camunda Cloud, working hard to build a SaaS…
