Glassdoor’s 50 Best Jobs in America report is out now, and information technology jobs made the top tier of the best jobs in America this year. This report identifies specific jobs with the highest overall Glassdoor job score. The Glassdoor job score is determined by weighing three factors equally: earning potential (median annual base salary), overall job satisfaction rating, and the number of job openings. The results represent job titles that rate highly among all three categories.
Landing at the very top of the list were enterprise architects (EAs). The average EA salary is currently $145,000 a year, with a job satisfaction rating of 4.1 on a scale of 1 to 5. In addition, Glassdoor estimates that about 14,000 openings exist nationally for EAs.
So we wanted to take a closer look at the life of an EA to see what makes this job so satisfying. Also, we wanted to explore how to become an EA, what their biggest struggles are these days, and how they found their job. Therefore, we interviewed two EAs from our Camunda community to get their perspective.

The Glassdoor job score is based on a 5-point scale (5.0=best job, 1.0=bad job). For a job title to be considered, it must receive at least 100 salary reports and at least 100 job satisfaction ratings shared by U.S.-based employees over the past year (12/12/20-12/12/21). A job title must also have at least 2,000 job openings as of 12/12/21 to be considered for this list. Job opening counts are as of 12/12/21 on Glassdoor. This report takes into account job title normalization that groups similar job titles. C-suite and intern level jobs were excluded from this report.
