We are pleased to announce the next alpha release of Camunda Platform Runtime 7.18. This release features the following improvements:
- Logging: Engine name parameter in mapped diagnostic context
- Exception Error Codes now available in the External Task Clients
- IBM WebSphere Application Server Liberty support
- New Supported Environments
- 7 Bug Fixes
You can download Camunda for free or run it with Docker.

Logging: Engine Name Parameter in Mapped Diagnostic Context
As an addition to the already present list of parameters for the logging context, 7.18.0 adds the process engine name (named loggingContextEngineName).
Including the process engine name in the log output is particularly helpful in a multi-engine setup. This way it is clear from the log entry from which engine it originates.

Exception Error Codes Now Available in the External Task Clients
The Alpha3 Release featured Exception Error Codes which the Engine’s Java or REST API returns if the API call fails.
This release brings the feature to our Java and JavaScript External Task Clients.
With the help of error codes, your custom business logic can easily detect certain problems and react to them, e.g., by retrying the failed operation or raising an incident.

IBM WebSphere Application Server Liberty Support
This feature is only available in the Enterprise Edition of the Camunda Platform Runtime. Test it out with a Free Trial.
With Camunda Automation Platform 7.18.0-alpha5 we are introducing support for IBM WebSphere Application Server Liberty 22. WebSphere Liberty can be seen as the successor of WebSphere 8.5 and WebSphere 9.0. Now, you can have a Camunda Platform 7 shared engine setup on WebSphere Liberty as well.
New Supported Environments
Camunda Automation Platform 7.18.0 adds support for:
- PostgreSQL 14
- Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL compatible with PostgreSQL 11.
